and Super Tuesday asking basic questions about the disconnect between the enthusiasm and support

for progressive policies and the Sanders

and let's say war into a lesser degree campaigns and candidates and then the

reality of people voting for Biden. Was it Fear, motivated by the constant drama of the

corporate media that Bernie's not electable, but Biden is? We're going to examine

this with our guest today, Matthew Karp and then Adolf Reed. So Matt Karp is well known to

Jacobin readers as a contributing editor but he's also an associate professor of

history at Princeton and an historian of the U.S. Civil War era, and

published a book with Harvard in 2016 called This Vast Southern Empire Slaveholders at the helm of American foreign policy.

But today we're going to talk to Matt about his insights on what happened on

Super Tuesday that so changed the electoral dynamic.

The basic question of course is what happened.

You say in your recent article in

Jacobin that's called Bernie Sanders can still win in the nomination and the

presidency and I'm clinging to that Matt, but you say that Sanders appeared ready to annihilate all three of his Democratic primary

opponents on Super Tuesday.

And you also say that today the baseless fabric of this vision has has dissolved leaving only the grim spectacle of
