Non-binary identities and stories are so new to so many people.

And I think a story like this is important because it just feels so relatable.

Well, I mean, that's the point, right?

We have this idea that non-binary or gender non-conforming people are like this like, whoa, weird thing that's so different and so out there.

And like, you know, this enigma, uh, not to reference Gaga, but it's not please do. Um, you know, but it's, there's sort of this idea, yeah, there's this idea that it's like this really strange thing.

Like, no one's going to get right and you're always going to mess up pronouns and you're always going to like have to walk on eggshells and we're like difficult and whatever.

And for me, one of the things that's so important about writing Sissy is not just showing that, you know, non-binary and trans folks can be literary voices, but also just kind of making, making the narrative accessible and fun and taking itself only just seriously enough.

Yes. And you also write that most trans narratives revolve around trauma, and this is very much a rejection
