Several years ago, my wife and I began to understand and practice the promise of Jesus about the power of agreement.

I have to confess to you that for a number of years, I would read the promise and I did not understand everything about it.

I did not comprehend really what Jesus is saying.

It's in Matthew 18, 19, and 20. Here's what Jesus said. If two of you on earth agree about anything

you ask for, it will be done for you by my father in heaven.

I must make another confession. The fact that some preachers take that promise and I kind of

wave it about like a magic wand, kind of turn me off. And I wondered whether this is really

a literal promise.

But then I realized that just because somebody abuses the scripture, just because someone

takes the scripture out of context, just because someone misuses the scripture should not

be a reason for me to ignore it.

And then within that same period of time,

I was reading and studying in depth

to Peter's first epistle.

And then I came to 1 Peter chapter 3, verse 7.

And there Peter is talking about unity and agreement

between husband and wife.

And then he made a very curious statement in that

verse after that instruction. He said, lest your prayers may be hindered. And then I began to really

focus on this. What does that mean about my prayer be hindered? And then I began to study the whole

concept of unity in the entire scripture, unity in the home, unity in the body of Christ, the church of
