Newport Beach Film Festival here in beautiful Newport Beach, California.

I'm Scott Feinberg, host of the podcast and executive editor of awards coverage at The Hollywood

Reporter, and I am so thrilled to be joined tonight by this year's recipient of the Fest's

Maverick Award.

He's only 28 years old, but he has already

built a body of work that is highly impressive in its quantity, quality, and variety. It includes

the TV drama series Euphoria, the TV limited series The Narrow Road to the Deep North,

and the film's Saltburn, Priscilla, O Canada, and most recently, Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.

In Frankenstein, which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival,

will debut in Select Theater's tomorrow, and we'll drop on Netflix on November 7th.

He plays The Creature, a creation of Oscar Isaac's Victor Frankenstein.

At a Venice, the New York Times declared that he, quote,
