0:00.0	Hello there. I'm Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:06.7	Today, Jacob 5 through 7. And Jacob chapter 5, if you have forgotten, is the longest chapter
0:16.7	in the entire Book of Mormon. And it is often seen by some as a very boring passage,
0:23.6	because you've got all these verses talking about a grove of olive trees with the Lord of the
0:33.1	vineyard with a whole bunch of servants. They're doing all kinds of things with the trees,
0:36.5	and it feels a little bit disjointed for some people. So today as we dive in, the scripture study
0:46.7	overlay that I want to talk about is related to the word study. Elder and sister Bednar, so Susan and Elder David A. Bednar
0:59.0	gave a devotional, gave devotional addresses at Brigham Young University in January of
1:07.0	2024. And in Elder Bednar's talk, which you can look up online, it is called Consider
1:15.7	the Wondrous Works of God. In that talk, he reminds us that God's work and glory is to bring
1:23.1	to pass the immortality and eternal life of all of us. That's what he does. That's his whole labor and
1:29.0	his glory. And consequently, if we want to become more like God, it means we become more anxiously
1:37.8	engaged, more actively working for good causes, for righteous, to spread and building up the kingdom.
1:47.0	The entire talk is remarkable. In fact, both of their talks highly recommend that you look them up and read them.
1:55.0	One little quote is, work is essential for our spiritual progression. The idea being it's not optional, it's a
2:03.9	requirement in our process to grow to become like God. So as you approach Jacob
2:09.7	chapter 5, there is a power in taking time to search,
2:20.1	to ponder, to reflect, to apply, to consider,
2:27.2	to look at various angles of each part of this story,
2:33.6	to basically, my invitation to all of us is let's get to work,
2:41.0	let's roll up our sleeves. And when you come to a passage like Jacob chapter 5,
2:47.0	Xenus's allegory, or to the Isaiah chapters, or to chapters that are talking about the
