Welcome back. Come follow me, Book of Mormon Year.

0:03.0

We're going to be covering quite a few things from Jacob 1 through 4 today.

0:07.0

With Nephi dying, we're going to see the kingship and the ruling of the people pass on,

0:13.0

and it doesn't go to his younger brother, Jacob. It goes to somebody else.

0:17.0

And we'll talk about that, and not just that, but what kingship means

0:21.9

in an Old Testament context. Taylor's going to share some fun insights with you from Deuteronomy.

0:27.1

We're going to talk about the temple and this experience where Jacob's bringing the people

0:32.6

to the temple. And he's got some pretty serious things to address with them, and we'll talk about

that. One of the critical elements of that speech and that experience with Jacob teaching

0:45.3

0:51.4

their wives and their children. And so Jacob makes some pretty clear statements regarding the Lord's law of marriage and

1:00.2

when he will command the exception to that law.

1:04.3

And not just that, but Jacob goes very, very prophetic on us in chapters two and three,

1:10.2

talking about what's going to ultimately

1:11.6

happen with the Nephite and the Lamanite nations because of, according to Jacob, how

1:18.3

they're treating the women. And we'll talk about that. Then we're going to finish up with

1:24.9

covenants and talking about how Jacob is connecting a whole

1:29.6

bunch of dots for us in the Old Testament.

1:33.1

Dots that you don't find in the Old Testament, but Jacob's going to teach us about the Godhead,

1:39.0

about the law of Moses, and about that covenant connection.

1:41.8

It's beautiful.

1:42.8

As we jump into Jacob, let's give a little bit of context about God's expectations for leadership.
