Summary

Recall that Special Counsel Jack Smith was required by Department of Justice policy to dismiss the classified documents case against Donald Trump because DOJ has a horrific policy that a criminal president cannot be prosecuted while in office. However, the Mara-a-Lago documents case continues against Trump's two co-defendants, Walt Nauta and Carlos de Oliveira. The case presently is being appealed as a result of Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon dismissing the case contrary to existing precedent. Given that Jack Smith is stepping down as Special Counsel, he just transferred the classified documents case to federal prosecutors at the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. Glenn discusses what we can expect moving forward.

1:12.4	the Mar-a-Lago Classified Documents case continues, but without Donald Trump.
1:17.4	So how did we get here?
1:19.3	Let's do a quick factual recap, and then we'll take on the new reporting.
1:23.5	So it wasn't just Donald Trump, who was indicted for classified documents, crimes, obstructing justice, and espionage offenses.
1:33.7	Two of his criminal associates, his co-defendants were also indicted, Walt Nauta, and Carlos Di Oliveira.
1:41.8	Now, you will undoubtedly recall that presiding judge, Trump appointed Judge
1:47.3	Aline Cannon, did something that the law did not support or allow, and just threw out the
1:53.7	case entirely. Said, I don't think special counsel was lawfully appointed with no legal support or authority for that ruling.
