Here is one last deer story.

This one from just a couple weeks ago.

During Youth Hunting Weekend, 12-year-old Jack Fanon of Callis, Vermont,

went hunting with his friend and hunting mentor, Bob Raskovitz.

Here is their story. There was just a bit of snow, just a little bit around. It was a little chilly, but it was kind of cool because the sun was just starting to peak about. You couldn't see it, but it was just starting to glow the sky.

And so we walked out through the field.

It is cold, it's dark, and that's not something that many children experience a lot,

being out in the woods, in the dark, carrying a gun or not carrying a gun.

But you try to sneak into your stand, so you're trying not to step on twigs, to step on logs and then once you reach the stand it's a matter of getting your gun and the child safely up into the tree.

So we're up in the tree stand and we're sitting around. There's like this little

bar. It's similar to the ones on a ski lift and you kind of put the gun across it I had a 243 and there's a Hemlock Tree right in front of us and there's a

two down logs that kind of like crisscross each other.

To our left is the bog. So we waited and it was cold and my toes hurt.

I wasn't really too nervous or anything. I didn't think we were going to get anything honestly.

So I just sat there and all of a sudden we heard something.

Kind of like something shuffling through the woods it seems like.

So, bomb, we just stiffed up and we were like,

what is it?

We were looking around and all of a sudden two deer come down this hill.

There were two of them.

One we could quickly see was a very large Iraq buck.
