Hello, I'm Katie Piper and welcome to my podcast, Katie Piper's Extraordinary People.

Each episode, I'll meet an amazing person with an incredible story who faced adversity and came through the other side to inspire others.

Today I'm talking to Jack Ayers.

After a debilitating condition in his leg left Jack in pain, even just walking, he chose

at the age of 16 to have his leg amputated.

He's since gone on to become the first ever amputee, Mr. England, and is also a personal trainer, a G.B. Paracanoo athlete, a charity ambassador and catwalk model.

He tells me how he turned his life around after his surgery, away from drugs and alcohol,

and how another amputee inspired him to go ahead with the surgery and achieve his dreams.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I'm currently 29 and I'm living in East Midlands.

Right.

I'm a British canoe athlete.

I've been invited onto the programme October last year.

July last year actually won the title of Mr. England.
