| 0:04.0 | You go from being a part of a team to going solo, |
| 0:08.0 | and if you think about it, when you join up |
| 0:10.0 | in the military you're taught to shoot move and communicate together as a team. |
| 0:15.0 | Then you go to war and you fight, you bleed, you die together as a team. |
| 0:20.0 | Then once your time in the military is over everyone goes their separate ways people retire they go to different units moved to different bases |
| 0:27.6 | That sense of collective identity or team that was built through all of that training goes away in an instant. |
| 0:35.0 | And so many of our men and women in uniform end up feeling alone. |
| 0:41.0 | In some cases you can end up feeling like an exile |
| 0:44.8 | in your own country. |
| 0:46.5 | You're not surrounded by your battle buddies anymore. |
| 0:50.3 | And I see a lot of men and women get stuck at this point in their transition out of the military |
| 0:58.0 | and really, really struggle. |
| 1:00.8 | It's like they can't leave that part of them behind. |
| 1:05.0 | And I totally get it. |
| 1:07.0 | Being a warrior or your experience of war |
| 1:11.0 | will never ever go away. never leaves your heart it never leaves your mind it's |
| 1:15.6 | always with you in some way shape or form but so many have a difficult time saying that. |
| 1:25.0 | They have a difficult time saying, okay, that was one phase of my life. |
| 1:30.7 | It was an important one. |
| 1:31.8 | It's one that will be with me forever, but it's time to step into the next phase. |
| 1:37.9 | And I think part of the reason for that is, is that a lot of former servicemen and women lack clarity on what their next mission is. |
