Joe Biggs, who the government says, served as an instigator and a leader for the proud

boys, was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison Thursday on several charges related

to January 6th.

Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

This is one of the harsher sentences in the Capitol riot cases, with the longest sentence

being handed down to Oathkeeper's Founder Stuart Rhodes for 18 years.

The government originally tried to get Biggs sentenced to 33 years, as prosecutors argued

he was a vocal leader and influential proponent for the group.

An attorney for Biggs argued that he was sold untruths by the leader of the proud boys

and former President Trump.

Before the sentence was handed down, Biggs apologized for his actions.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas released a statement along with his annual financial

disclosure form on Thursday.

In his statement, Thomas said he flew on businessmen Harlan Crowe's private jet due to security

concerns after the dog's decision was leaked.

He also said he continues to work with Supreme Court officials for guidance on whether he

should further amend his reports from any prior years.

The justice has faced criticism for vacationing with Crowe.

Overdose deaths from fake prescription pills are becoming more common among young adults

and, according to the CDC, have more than doubled in recent years.
