Okay, this is Jay Brown Yoga Talks podcast. My name is Jay Brown. And I'm coming to you with a heavy heart and under extremely strained circumstances.

I would not normally be recording this early in the week,

but in nine hours I have to leave for the airport.

And I'm concerned that after traveling,

I'm going to be in an even worse state to try and do this.

So it has to happen now.

And I wrote a whole thing.

I wrote a whole thing that I was just planning to read.

And I even sent out some versions of it in some emails.

But I just deleted that,

because that was just me trying to calculate and find the right words so that everyone will think I'm a good guy.

And that's not how I want to respond to this moment.

So I just hit record and I'm just going to see if I can work through this, like right now.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, earlier this week, an article was published by a woman named Christy Rowe about one of my teachers, Mark Whitwell.

And Christy is someone I've considered a friend for over a decade.

She has been on this show before last April.

She was on as part of a panel discussion when I was in Brooklyn.

And first thing I want to say is that I completely support Christy, and I am so sorry for what happened to her.

Reading that article was revelatory for me as well.

And I am even more sorry for having brought Mark on my podcast last August without in any way challenging him on

power abuses in his past that I was aware of.

In doing that, I made myself entirely complicit in minimizing Christy's experience.
