Jacob Gibbs is going to tell you why J.K. Dobbins is going too early in fantasy football

drafts. Let's talk about it right now on fantasy football today in five.

Two player profiles this weekend players that are on the Duton draft list, excuse me, for Jacob.

And we'll start with J.K. Dobbins. And at his best last year,

six-game stretch, best six-game stretch of the season for him,

he was per game.

He was number six and non-PPR, number 10, and full PPR.

Currently in ADP, he's RB15.

You still think that's too early?

Yeah, I just, I definitely have some concerns about Dobbins,

and we'll get into them as we go along here. But the first one is he just never really took over his backfield. Even after the buy, which is when he kind of took over for Mark Ingram, he still only average 12 carries per game, which just, you know, if we're comparing him to the Nick Chubbs, Derek Kenneries of the world, even Josh Jacobs in the past where they don't need receiving volume. Those guys are getting, you know, 17 to 22 carries somewhere in there. He really didn't even come close to that. He's splitting, you know, carries with Lamar, Jackson, and Gus Edwards. So not only did he have a low amount of total carries, but then when you look at the carries near the goal line, he was out touched by Gus Edwards from that range.

I don't know if people realized that because Dobbins had really good luck converting touchdowns from that range.

But Edwards had 14 carries from inside the 10 to 11 for Dobbins, and then nine carries from inside the five to seven for Dobbins.

And then the last thing, just in the volume split, another point that I don't hear people

bring up very much is that he wasn't used on third downs.

They actually played just this hill more third down reps than Dobbins from week seven on,

which is just really bizarre.

They just don't want to, we don't want to use him in that facet, which makes sense, I guess. But the usage is really just like entirely non-traditional for a fantasy relevant running back. And maybe he's going to continue to be good enough to put up points with that usage, but I'm definitely concerned. Yeah. Well, they're a non-traditional team, I guess you'd have to say. And Mark Ingram, in a non-traditional way, was a top 12 running back in 2019, and he did that with 26 catches, five touchdown catches, which was just ridiculous.

But if he had had zero touchdown catches that year, Ingram still would have been a top 13 running back.

But what do you think about the catch potential for Dobbins? I think it's really, really, though. Dobbins ranked 115th out of 117 qualified

running backs in targets per round during the four years that I have that data available. And it's not

just the problem of Baltimore not passing to the running back position. This is a JK Dobbins problem.
