Shift magazine.

And it's Alexa St. John, covering Tech and Suppliers.

Joining us on the podcast today is Stuart Strop,

the senior director of Automotive retail at JD Power.

He'll be telling us about the company's latest findings with regard to consumer attitudes

toward electric vehicles, which seemed to be a, you know know they seemed like an important topic before and

now it's just like a daily onslaught of EV news Leslie and Alexa what what do you think is driving this this push that

EVs are like the storyline in the automotive industry right now? Well Pete that is a

really good question and I would just say that some of it is driven by environmental factors,

that this is a way that automakers can get ahead of regulations

and get ahead of what the federal government,

at least in the US, wants to do.

And some of it is driven by improvements in batteries. I think that now that

battery ranges can go so long that maybe EVs are more of a practical consideration than they used to be.

We ran a graphic in automotive news a couple of weeks ago where we showed the EV only driving ranges for several vehicles and I think it's one of the

Tesla is a Tesla model S I believe goes almost 400 miles on a full battery.

So I just think the technology has gotten to the point where

EVs are no longer out of the question for the average person who is just doing a

commute to work every day.
