I've had my share of breakups, breakdowns, and breakthroughs.

I did my work and put my life back together piece by piece. I am I

I received a letter from Derek, a 30-year-old black man leading a double life.

No one knows his shameful secret. Derek is a pastor and gay.

He loves his ministry, preaches from the pulpit, and he sleeps with man. When you say something in your voice, your entire being hears it differently. I have been living a deceptive life.

I am attracted to the same sex.

Reverend Derek has done everything in his power

to keep his closeted lifestyle from being exposed.

I was taught that being gay was unnatural, that God doesn't like gay people.

So I trained myself to be who people wanted me to be.

Even his family, who Derek says has shown open hatred toward gay men doesn't know.

My family is a very traditional southern black family.
