Summary

We're back for Episode 22 of the MANIA Podcast, here's what we covered this week:

0:00 Intro 01:19: Fertility Clinic Called...You Won't Believe the News We Got. 03:33: IVF Was Even HARDER This Time... 09:03: Daniel's WILD Adventure at the Fertility Clinic! 11:09: Did I Almost Commit a Crime for IVF?! 15:12: The BIG Question... 22:46: Wait, People Are Actually IN LOVE with Cars and Objects?! 32:51: Are Ultra-Rich People Even Happy?! 39:38: The Tipping Debate is Getting HEATED! 45:02: My Awful Experience in Paris... 47:27: Tipping, Communism, and Why Working Hard Matters (According to Daniel!) 51:30: Wrapping Up and Leaning on Each Other.

In this candid and emotional episode, join Daniel and Amanda as they provide a deeply personal update on their ongoing IVF and fertility journey. They open up about the heartbreak of a recent miscarriage with their surrogate, the physical and emotional toll of Amanda undergoing another round of IVF shots and surgery, and the rollercoaster of waiting for embryo results. Daniel also shares a surprisingly humorous, yet frustrating, account of his experience providing a sperm sample at the fertility clinic, and they discuss the difficult decision of how much of their infertility struggles to share publicly.   Beyond the fertility talk, the conversation takes interesting turns, touching on bizarre topics like objectophilia (being in love with inanimate objects), philosophical discussions about wealth, happiness, and scarcity versus abundance mindsets, and a passionate debate about tipping culture, particularly concerning delivery drivers. They also touch on the concept of communal tipping and how it relates to broader societal ideas. Tune in for a raw, honest, and wide-ranging discussion from the couple.

Ready to roll. Ready to roll. Okay, so it's been a while. It's been, I don't know, we took a couple weeks off. Okay. And we'll just get right into it. Okay. A lot of people were, you know, actually I did read some people, you know, inquiring, saying hoping everything's okay and all that kind of stuff. And it was a rough couple weeks for you on many fronts.

0:39.5

Yeah. And I guess we could start with the first update if you want to take that.

0:47.0

Okay. I guess it was after our last podcast a couple weeks ago, right? Yeah.

0:58.9

Which we were filming on a Sunday, and we got a call from the fertility clinic.

1:01.3

It's like 9 p.m., which is weird on a Sunday.

1:01.8

Yeah.

1:05.3

And she was calling to tell me that our surrogate had a blood clot,

1:08.7

but they weren't sure if it was a blood clot that meant anything, or if it was like miscarriage blood clot.

1:12.3

So then I sat up all night because I, who's going to sleep after that?

1:16.9

Well, you can, but I could never.

1:18.2

So I just sat up all night long.

1:19.9

And then the next morning it was confirmed she had a miscarriage and she was bleeding pretty bad.

1:24.2

So that was awful.

1:26.8

Yeah.

1:27.6

Yeah. That was like, you know, emotionally very, very difficult for you. Mm-hmm. Right? Yeah. I mean, because it's just like a couple of days before you were already talking about, like, getting, you know, baby stuff. And yeah, we were talking about doing that. And that's probably why they say, like, don't plan. Like, don't plan so much. I mean, I try to say that with you and you're like well i'm optimistic and you know it's like i now i won't

1:49.6

plan good okay well you got to do whatever you have to do like mentally because like for me

1:54.4

i mean i wasn't in the same place you were with all of it. You thought it was for sure, though.

2:01.5

You could, you said it a lot.

2:02.4

Yeah, I was sure that it was going to happen. So I had no doubt. And then it didn't. And then, you know, I started to look forward to what's next. Well, actually, you did rather quickly. I was, I was surprised. I had to. Had to for your own. Yeah. we that that was... We had one embryo left to try. And if we want more, then I knew that I had to do it now because my period was here. Yeah. Or else we would be waiting like 60 days sometimes for my period to come. Yeah. So what I meant was you were just ready to like, you were already thinking about that that day. Getting it over with is what I was thinking about. Well, you were also talking about like, because we had to do, you know, the surrogate who had the miscarriage, there was a waiting period. Yeah. So now we found another one, right? Right. So I'm looking at like, you know, always from the optimistic view of maybe this is going to work out even better because we could potentially have two surrogates pregnant within a couple months of each

2:55.7

other. And then you've got your hands full with two. I know. Right? Yeah. So, but in order for

3:02.3

us to get to that point, because like you said, the first time you did IVF, you had a ton of eggs

3:06.9

that ended up giving us two embryos that were good.
