Maldonado and she's an immigration attorney and an activist. Hey Amy, welcome

to in the thick. Thank you so much for having me.

I'm really excited to be here with you.

This story when I read this headline.

And as you know, Amy, I mean, I'm not surprised

because I've been covering these stories

and I've been trying to say to people for, you know, like the entirety of my career.

Right. But I woke up to this alert that talked about a child that appears to have died.

This child had been held in an immigration facility

and the conditions around the death

were still being reported out that morning,

but this week, the American Immigration Lawyers Association did report that a migrant toddler died shortly after being released from an ICE detention facility in Dilly, Texas.

We still don't know the cause of the death, the precise circumstances, but it is why we need

to talk about these detention facilities and why we wanted to talk to you Amy.

Right and it's important to note that I did contact ICE and they said that the death of a

toddler inside the facility was false but they couldn't confirm whether the toddler died after being released and they needed

more information like a specific name of the toddler.

Right.
