My name is Carmen Vela from Lidel, Texas. I will be voting in this midterm elections.

What's important to me are the women, men, children, families that are in detention centers

all around me and all around this country. I translate telephonically for a group of

lawyers and these women's stories have changed my life and now with the Brett Kavanaugh thing are these women going to be raped,

sexually assaulted while they're being held, and no one is going to be

legal.

I live in Garland, Texas just outside of Dallas. I am voting in these midterm elections because my

vote as a first-generation Latino American. My parents are immigrants from Mexico. I think it's important to use our voice and you know with the

state with the lowest voter turnout especially on Latinos and younger voters here

in Texas I think it's important for me to vote for our best interest. You know, I will be voting for best o'eroric because it gives me hope.

And you know my wife being an undocumented immigrants, you know, she has DACA and seeing that Republicans in the state don't have

our best interests in mind and I'm going to be using my voice and we'll be bringing those

other Latinos with me to the polls.
