Everybody's thinking about it. The suicide of Anthony Bourdain we're gonna we're gonna come back and share our

thoughts about that at the end of the show but rough time. Really rough time but

there's a lot of needs to cover right now and there's so much that's happened this week.

So Maria, like, we've been traveling a lot.

You've been traveling my daughter graduated

from high school last week.

And thank you.

I'm very, very emotional time. And at the same time those emotions were happening all the things that were happening out of Puerto Rico regarding the death toll.

So you were covering that story while you were with your daughter? Oh my God. Yeah, I was getting a lot of calls so I haven't

had even a moment to talk to you about it or even tell our listeners even though I've been

tweeting about it for the last two weeks but at the end of May the Harvard School of Public Health, researchers and also

researchers out of Puerto Rico, they published this report. They estimated that

the death count from Hurricane Maria was 70 times greater than the official government number

of 64 deaths.

And they even said that it could be as low as 793 to 8,498.

They're saying that it's around 5,000.

That's an estimate, right?

And no matter what, because we've done a lot of reporting for

Latino USA, Latino rebels, a center for

investigative journalism. There were more excess deaths. But where's the media? That was a

top story and we were talking about Roseanne and other things like that Maria?
