Summary
She was four or five when she saw him.
An old man standing at the end of the hallway in her dad’s house — solid, silent, blocking the path to the back door where her family was playing outside. He didn’t move. He didn’t speak. And then he was gone.
Her father told her she imagined it. She believed him.
Years later, as a teenager flipping through old photographs for a school project, she froze. The man in the picture was the same one from the hallway. The same face. The same tired expression. Her father laughed and casually admitted it was the previous owner of the house — and that others had seen him too.
