The past few years have brought a number of disasters when it comes to the ocean. We've had

the devastation of hurricanes,

including what is still going on in Puerto Rico with Hurricane Maria. There's been a number

of oil spills like the Deep Potter Horizon spill. We're even now talking here in the U.S. about

opening up the Arctic wildlife refuge to oil drilling and not having potential consequences

for the Arctic Ocean around it. And that's not even mentioning the latest reports on plastic

invading our ocean and the great coral bleaching event at the Great Barrier Reef.

All of this points to an idea that we need to

potentially rethink what ocean conservation looks like in the context of climate change and natural

disasters that we have a hand in. Yeah, I mean, I think it's hard for anyone to take personal

responsibility for the oceans, right? They, by definition,

are in between borders. It's also hard to take responsibility for like two-thirds of the entire
