Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to another morning's with The Masters where we

0:14.8

devote ourselves to the Lord daily with you. Good morning, you guys. Good morning, indeed.

0:18.8

We're picking up with day two of our, what does it mean to follow Jesus devotional? In the

0:23.3

Bible app, there's a link to that in the description. If you guys want to follow along with

0:26.1

us, and as always, I'm going to read the scripture than Tories can I pick up with the devote?

0:29.0

Let's do it. The scripture is John chapter three, verse 30, and it says this,

0:34.7

1:25.6

to forego in favor of his purpose. We get to choose to be a part of his eternal game plan. Jeremiah 29

1:34.8

11 says that his plans are not harmful, but are good, bring hope in a bright future. But we often

1:43.6

hold on to our agenda as we attempt to follow Jesus. We don't want a surrender because we are

1:49.7

convinced that our limited vision and wisdom exceeds God's boundless and foolproof strategy.

1:58.0

Our full surrender to Jesus usually boils down to one question. How much will be required of me?

2:06.9

And the answer is simple. Everything. In Mark 8, 34-35, we read that if we want to be Jesus' disciples

2:16.2

and follow him, we have to deny ourselves and take up our cross. The Greek word for deny

2:23.0

in Mark 8 is a par neomy, and it means to forget oneself and lose sight of one's interest.

2:31.9

These two verses are summed up in this way. Deny self and die to self.
