Summary

Friends, in our first reading today, Solomon finds that all the power and wealth of the world are nothing compared to the gift of wisdom—seeing life from the perspective of God. Although this gift seems to help one further amass wealth, in today’s Gospel, Christ teaches us that to use the gifts of the world properly, we must give them away so we can follow him.

Peace be with you. Friends, our first reading from the book of Wisdom and our

gospel are meant to be read in tandem and they articulate a such an important

principle of what I'll call spiritual physics. So anybody interested in the

dynamics of the spiritual life we got to attend to these readings. They have to

do with the play if I can put it this way between worldly goods and riches and

wisdom. So look now in the first reading which is taken from the book of

Wisdom and traditionally a Solomon himself is seen as the author of this book.

So the paradigmatic wise figure right from the Old Testament
