It's pretty common. I'm sure you've said it this week.

It's the thought that counts, right?

It's kind of like a way of reconciling the gap between reality as it is and what we wish reality was.

I took a little poll on my Instagram because that's what you do with hypothetical questions.

What comes to mind when you think is the thought that counts?

Here's what some of the answers were. In the first 30 seconds, somebody responded and said,

disappointment. Single one word answer, disappointment, pretty fair.
