Summary

Today, we’re continuing our study “Is that Really in the Bible” from MomStrong International! Have you ever thought of yourself as the center of God’s story? In a post-modern Church, that is often the case. We often have a tendency to insert ourselves into the center of biblical stories–we become the hero instead of seeing Jesus as the true hero or we reduce narratives down to a set of moral principles to apply so we can have a better life. This kind of man-centered reading and preaching can take glory away from God and distort the true nature of the Bible. Bottom line? The Bible is about God. It’s HIStory – and it points us to Jesus.

0:00.0	Hey everybody, this is Heidi St. John. Welcome to the Heidi St. John podcast. Today is Mom
0:05.2	Strong International Day. It is Wednesday, August 8th. We're going to be talking about our continuing
0:10.7	series, is that really in the Bible. So this has been a fun study for us to write and to sort of
0:17.3	dig into a lot of the questions that you've been shooting to us for the past several months.
0:21.7	I'm going to give you a little bit of an overview of what we're going to be talking about starting
0:25.9	with week five of this study, which is today. The Bible is not about me. Uh oh. If you thought the
0:32.8	Bible was all about you, stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged.
0:44.8	This is kind of a weird month because all of the Mom Strong International Studies start on the
0:49.0	first Monday of the month. So we started our scripture writing challenge on Wednesday, last Wednesday,
0:54.3	August 1st. So you guys should be on day eight of the scripture writing challenge. I hope that you
0:59.5	have been getting your kids to do that with you. It's a great way to practice their handwriting. You'll
1:04.5	notice that we do copy work over there. All the things that we're doing are really geared at getting
1:10.0	you guys into the word of God and getting your kids familiar with God's word. So that's why we do a
1:14.8	section called Kid Strong. That's why we talk about marriage. That's why we incorporate prayer
1:20.3	because really it's all part of walking and right relationship with the Lord and especially since
1:26.0	we were surrounded by so much struggle right now. I talked on Monday a little bit about homeschooling
1:32.5	and the reason why my husband and I chose homeschooling. On Friday, I'm going to have, you know,
1:38.3	we've got lots of different things going on here at the podcast on Friday. I'm going to have my
1:41.1	friend Tiffany King, who's got an fantastic new book out kind of helping moms kind of get into
1:46.9	the rhythm of cooking again and the importance of meal time. And really, I think part of this is just
1:52.8	it's counter-cultural, right? This idea of encouraging your children and encouraging your husband
1:59.8	and really being busy at home, which is what Prober says that we should be doing. It doesn't mean
