john Harper nice enough to come on the podcast Andy is on vacation for the next couple weeks. Harp, I'm especially happy to have you on because you've been peaking my curiosity

on Twitter over the weekend. You always do, but sometimes your tweets become columns. One of them

is today about the Mets and what they might be able to do in the Cubs

series. We'll get to all of that. But since we last spoke, everybody, fascinating since we

last spoke, addition, because they swept Cleveland and got swept by the Braves. So three

and three. Honestly, the pitching has been the bright spot. And there were some bumps and bruises along the way, but a 244 ERA in that span.

In terms of the offense, 222 batting average 618 combined team OPS, only four homers and 22 runs batted in in that three and three stretch.

So this conversation that Harp and I are about to have is a lot about

starting pitching, more good than bad, but as it pertains to John Harper in particular, the bad is a

little bit more painful. Yes. Because, you know, you don't have favorites in your profession,

but Zach Wheeler is somebody that you have been professing as a guy who would turn it around.

And last year, we thought it was finally happening in the second half.

Feels like my adopted son.

Yes.

You have a very close tie to him somehow.

And I have to imagine that it's a little bit disappointing to be watching kind of same old

Wheeler right now. Absolutely. And, you know, he went through struggles early in the year,

seemed like he was, he got through it and he had a really nice stretch, which kind of coordinated
