First John 4, 16 says this.

We know and we rely on the love that God has for us.

Do you know the love of God and do you rely on the love of God for you?

If you don't, you have a hard time loving other people.

Oh, it's easy to love people who love you. That's no problem. I'm not talking about that.

I'm talking about loving the unlovely, loving the difficult, loving the irritable,

loving the people who are different, who are demanding,

loving people all around you who you don't feel like loving.

You can't do that until you have God's love coming through you.

Love happens because we are loved by God.

Now, number two, the second thing that the Bible teaches us is that love is a choice.
