Good morning everyone and welcome back to another mornings with the masters for devote ourselves to the Lord daily with you. We are picking up with day three of

our Renew with Romans by Tim Keller devotional from the Bible app. There's a link to that in the description if you guys want to follow along.

And as always I'm going to read the scripture that I'm also going to pick with the Devo.

And I just want to give a quick little disclaimer. I peaked at this one, I haven't read it, but I peaked at it, and I have a feeling that one of us is going to get emotional in this one, and so kind of fun fun I'm excited about it.

What do I mean by motion I don't mean tears but just like get you know just really just

feel it so anyways but more on that later. The scripture is Romans chapter 8

verses 15 through 17 and they say this. So you have not received a spirit that makes

you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's spirit when he adopted you as his own children.

Now we call him Abba, father, for his spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children.

And since we are his children, we are his heirs.

In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God's glory, but if we are to share his glory, we must also share in his suffering.

The Devotional is titled, Adopted Ers. These few short verses are a wonderful

summary of the relationship that you and I as Christians enjoy with God by his

spirit. Verse 15 tells us that

sonship is a received status, not a natural one.

We are not born as God's children.

We are adopted into his family when we receive his spirit.

In the Roman world, a wealthy childless man might adopt someone as his heir. And just so you know, this heir would be male. So Paul describes all

Christians both men and women as sons. The moment adoption occurred, these things

happened. The moment you're adopted, the new

son's old debts were cancelled. The moment adoption occurred, he got a new name and became

heir of all his father had.
