Okay, let's just get right into it.

Let's get to the big topic.

Everyone's thinking about talking about the whole entire Supreme Court decision over the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana.

Let's start with it because this will have major implications over the election cycle,

the midterms and the 2028 election cycle.

So this goes back.

Let me go back a little bit.

This is behind the Calais versus Louisiana lawsuit.

After the last census in 2020, Louisiana got six congressional seats, which is,

you know, that's accurate accounting, right? This wasn't a state or a situation where the state

got, you know, didn't get as many seats or got too many. This is a perfectly fine way comes to the

calculation. So the Republicans draw up the new congressional maps in 2020,

and they allocated five seats to a Trump-back district, and one seat centered in New Orleans to a

majority black Democratic district. Well, in 2022, a federal judge appointed by President Barack

Obama struck down the map saying it was illegal.

And that because the census found that Louisiana is one-third black, Louisiana's district should be one-third black, meaning they need a second black majority district.

At the times, the Supreme Court was hearing a different case in Alabama over whether they needed to have a second majority black district because that state also is a third black, which the Supreme Court at the time said that having only one majority black district was in violation of the voting rights act.

They needed a second black majority district.
