Ed Kranpool, a guy who was a part of the original 1962 New York Mets was a part of the miracle Mets in 69 was a part of the team

that won the pennant 1973. Career Met has passed away at the age of 79

according to the Mets he suffered from cardiac arrest down in Boca Raton, Florida.

Ed was 79 years old.

I think if you're a Mets fan, even if you don't remember him as a player, I don't remember

him as a player, but you remember him always being around, and you remember the stories, and you remember him always being around and you remember the stories and you remember about him

This is the way I would describe it as someone who never saw him play he

encompassed encompasses the right word he he encompassed the New York Mets as best as anybody.

He's a local kid, he's from the Bronx, he made his major league debut for the 1962 Mets at 17 years old.

Just ponder that for a second.

What were we all doing at 17?

He was playing major league baseball.

And then he was on this team as a helpful good

player for a very very long time and he was a part of so many different eras the bad

era of the early to mid-60s, the shocking championship era of 1969, winning the

pennant in 73, to when things got really bad again in the late 70s.

So he was the met. was mister met and he will certainly be missed.

Yeah that's a sad set of news that comes 79 years old feels young obviously we feel like we should live longer these days

but

condolences to his family and to the met family because you lost one of the great ones one of the great names as well and great people and a guy who did something that you know I still talk about to this day whenever we talk about Pete Alonzo and we have a debate I'm sure we will have more of them in the next few

months I'll bring up how important it is to have a career met and you know to some
