| 0:17.0 | Here one stop shop for the story, secrets, and shenanigans of a popcorn-fueled theme part journalist. I'm Carly Waisel, and I am back. I apologize that this episode was about, at this point, a week delayed. I lost my voice real big, guys, like real big. Like, not like it went away for a day or two. Like, I fully went to holiday events and whispered and no noise came out of my mouth. I had to go to the E&T to be like, is this permanent? Like, what's happening? Uh, I have been in trouble vocally for, oh my God. Is it two weeks now? That's bad, guys. That's really bad. Um, I'm finally getting better. It's still like, I'm in a a lower register so I can't quite hit the same notes. I'm like talking. I sound like a different person and I feel like I sound more authoritative because you know when people send a lot of exclamation points in their emails, people clown on them. That's essentially my style of speaking out loud. And I don't have that upper register like the giggly sounds anymore.'m just down here. And I'm working with it. I feel like I got a blunt haircut. You know, like I got like a sharp bob, but just with my voice. However, there's no permanent damage. It didn't look great when the doctor looked at it, but she's like, it's coming back. Just be patient. If you're a subscriber We're on Instagram. You already know this, but the doctor told me to drink water, which already is a problem for me. |
| 1:31.8 | Avoid caffeine, which I'm quite literally drinking out of a bucket. |
| 1:36.2 | Oh, coffee right now. |
| 1:37.5 | Literally, it's a bucket. |
| 1:38.3 | It has a handle. |
| 1:39.2 | It's a whole thing. |
| 1:40.7 | And she also said to go on vocal rest, which is impossible for moi. |
| 1:45.8 | I have been out every night and, like, not partying. |
| 1:49.0 | I have been actually completely not staying out late and not drinking because I knew to get through this month to have my voice back. |
| 1:56.1 | I would need everything in my power. |
| 1:57.7 | I've just been, like, socializing. |
| 1:58.8 | So, like, the talking has been rough. |
| 2:00.5 | But I'm here and I am going to record this podcast over a few different days to make sure that |
| 2:06.3 | hopefully my voice stays intact enough where it sounds okay. I know I don't fully sound like myself and |
| 2:10.9 | I know that is jarring in an audio format. So for that I apologize. But I'm here and know that if the |
| 2:15.6 | enthusiasm is not coming through my hemorrhaged vocal cords, not good to have someone stick a scope through your nose and down your throat, like when you learned about mummification in third grade, and have them be like, oh yeah, I see hemorrhaging. That's not a word you want to hear when your job is like kind of your vocal cords now. I don't write as much as I speak out loud. So oops, |
| 2:34.8 | guess I should take care of my instrument and I don't. I also haven't been drinking any |
| 2:37.9 | water and just coffee. It's fine. December is one long party and I just want to be socializing all |
| 2:43.2 | the time. Speaking of, Warner, why do I always stumble when I say it on the podcast and not in real |
