take you to other worlds, and bring joy. This story is called It'll Make You Happy. Sippy Brown got her name because she kept drinking out of a sippy cup long after her friends

had moved on to drinking out of lidless cups and glasses.

It's not that she couldn't handle real cups.

She just didn't prefer them, and she didn't like saying goodbye to things. But Sippy didn't mind her name.

She especially liked when they shortened it to SIP.

She thought of herself as SIP Brown,

and that sounded like a good baseball player's name.

Sip Brown played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Parakeets,

a winning team that existed only in Sips imagination.

The Parakeets uniforms were white with gold stripes and Sips was always clean and

her cap was red like her sneakers.

Sip needed a lot of imagination to get through life because her family was always embarrassing her.

Her mom sang in public, like at the grocery store.

Her father was an artist who last week painted the number seven in different colors all over his car.

Pink and yellow and green sevens all over his car, pink and yellow and green sevens all over the white car.

Who does that? The sevens looked like they were dancing and jumping and having a good

old time but inside the car?

Zip sat slumped down, hoping the kids at school wouldn't see the car pull up when her father dropped her off.
