We’re back with more It Ends with Us lawsuit drama! This week, we’re diving into two side cases tied to the Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni saga.

First up: Jonesworks LLC vs. Jennifer Abel, Melissa Nathan, Justin Baldoni, and Wayfarer Studios. Then, we break down Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit against The New York Times.

We’re covering these cases in order, so stay tuned—this saga is just getting started!

What’s on the docket?

  • Details of the Jonesworks LLC lawsuit against movie's PR team
  • Justin Baldoni’s history with Joneswork LLC
  • Allegations by the owner of Jonesworks that the PR campaign was not aligned with her methods and done behind her back.
  • The shady text messages found on Jennifer Abel’s company phone after being terminated from Jonesworks LLC.
  • Justin Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit against the New York Times
  • Breaking down the four causes of action: libel, false light invasion of privacy, promissory fraud, and breach of an implied in-fact contract.
  • The statement and article put out by the NYT following the lawsuit
  • Text messages provided by Baldoni to provide context to Blake’s complaints.

Welcome to the Bravo Docket.

We're your favorite reality TV drama meets the courtroom.

I'm Sessie.

And I'm Angela and we're two attorneys with a

0:22.5

passion for pop culture here to dive into the juiciest lawsuits and legal battles in the world of

0:27.2

reality TV. Whether you're here for the facts, fun, or just some law 101. Let's get into today's case.

0:36.4

Hi, everyone. Welcome back to the Bravo docket. So today we're continuing our coverage of the Justin Baldoni, Blake lively drama. I like to say that the two that we are covering today are more the side lawsuits involving side characters. One involves the PR company that Jennifer Abel worked for, and I'll give you a brief

0:57.0

refresher on who she is before we dive into it. And the second one involves Justin Baldoni's

1:01.8

lawsuit against the New York Times. And we're covering them now instead of going straight to

1:06.8

Justin's latest lawsuit because we're covering them in the order that they were filed and

1:11.1

appeared. So I promise we will get to his side of things as well. I think the difficulty with

1:17.5

recording something that is so many parts and we have to go so far in depth in is that we don't

1:23.8

necessarily cover the other side in the same episode. But I promise that when we get

1:28.4

to his, we'll probably have two episodes like we did for Blake's side. Yeah. Yeah, it'll be a lot.

1:34.8

And again, like we have on our Instagram and the pinned post in our civility order,

1:41.2

these are all just complaints. Complaints are not evidence, but these have been

1:46.7

very interesting and a bit unusual somewhat in that they have screenshots of text messages,

1:53.3

exhibits attached. I mean, I love it when complaints do this, but it's not that often that that

1:58.0

happens. And some of the things, you know, it's not clear if they're being denied or not yet.

2:02.7

Yeah. It's almost like they're being tried right in front of our eyes, which is interesting. And to piggyback off of that and what I was saying earlier, I feel like when we cover a specific lawsuit, I kind of feel like we're talking under the umbrella of that lawsuit without

2:17.7

necessarily jumping ahead to the next one. Yeah. So I like to give each one our full attention
