Summary

Three days ago, Danielle and Adam dropped their daughter, Mia, off for her freshman year at college. But getting to this point was nothing short of a rollercoaster of a journey. In this episode, Danielle and her sister, Life Coach Amy, discuss what they've both learned about preparing our kids (and ourselves) for the post-high school phase. Amy has sent her two kids off to college, and helps other moms deal with this transitional time of life filled with so much change and uncertainty. Some topics the two discuss are:

  • How struggles are actually necessary and beneficial for our kids preparing to go away for school.
  • Why it's essential that our kids concentrate on life skills that aren't taught in school or most extra-curricular activities.
  • What one thing is making this whole process so much easier for Danielle, and why she wants every parent to understand how important it is to help our children follow their natural course.
  • How Amy has navigated having a child at school who doesn't communicate as much as she would like.
  • What essential skills should kids know before heading off to college or into "the real world?"
  • How to find the good in each situation, even if it feels far from perfect.
