Summary
TW: anxiety, depression, PTSD
This week, your hosts welcome Tay Lautner, an RN who became a nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tay opens up about the anxiety, depression, and PTSD she suffers with as a result of her time nursing, and how that inspired her to start her blog, non-profit, and now, podcast. Tay also talks about her marriage to actor Taylor Lautner, how she got into nursing, and what nursing feels like for her now that she's removed from the work. She shares when she knew her career was impacting her mental health and the heartbreaking moment she was asked by a patient if they were going to live or die. Tay talks about the memory loss she experiences as a result of her PTSD, the biggest barrier she had to overcome in starting to speak about her experience, and what her healing journey looks like now. Plus, she has joined our network, Podcast Nation, and has launched a new podcast, The Squeeze, with the same mission as her foundation: to build a community that supports and encourages those struggling with their mental health, providing a place to share resources along the way.
