says it's begun to withdraw some troops from the Gaza Strip with plans for

further withdrawals depending on the level of

fighting. The authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo say President Felix Chisakady

has been re-elected for a second term with more than 70% of the vote.

Europe's longest-reaning monarch, the Queen of Denmark,

has announced that she will abdicate later this month.

The Israeli military says it's making adjustments to its deployment in the Gaza Strip

as it anticipates a long war against Hamas. A spokesman for the Israeli

Defence Forces Daniel Hagari said he expected the fighting to continue throughout the

entire coming year and he said some troops especially

reserve units could be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip in preparation for

further fighting.

These days we are also adjusting the plan of forces deployment in Gaza and in the array of reservists.
