John, this is a very complicated issue, which very few people, even the reporters who try to take positions on this and have been advocates not reporters for the large part.

This was something that all the parties in Israel have talked about that the court became too active.

The court, in fact, appointed its own successors and was able to overrule legislation in the Knesset, which is an elected body that the court is not.

So this has been something that's meaningful a long time.

I think that it was handled in a poor way from the start after the election that brought Prime Minister Netanyahu back to power

and those who didn't like the outcome of the election ceased on this issue in part.

And others, I think, genuinely believed that it was an overreach.

And so they whittled it down to one part, which deals with this reasonableness clause, meaning that the court could turn down legislation,

reject legislation, or initiatives of the Knesset, if it was deemed not to be, quote, reasonable.

We're not exactly an objective standard. So this measure that passed by 64-0 because the opposition didn't vote, they walked out, but was a majority of the Knesset and in accordance with democratic procedures.

But still arouses a lot of opposition. And the Prime Minister has said that he still hopes that this will be resolved.

There's a lot of concern about the economic impact at a time when Intel has just announced a $25 billion new plant, the video is starting a new plants.

And yet there are some who question whether they're market rates and the stability of the Shekel will be impacted, which we will have to see.

There's a broad concern about that, but also about the internal disruptions that were created.

Many people believe that these are just a natural outgrowth after 75 years of history. And that fact that Israel doesn't have a constitution opens it up to these kind of internal divisions.
