I'm Tim Franks and we are going to bring you the news very shortly as soon as we can speak to our

correspondent about one of the Israeli hostages who's who had been held in Gaza being rescued after being

kidnapped on October 7th last year 326 days in captivity Kaid Farhan Al-Qadi. We will bring you more on that as soon as we can.

We're going to begin though with Ukraine and over the last couple of days Russia has tried to deliver a message

warning and wearing in equal measure a second day of large scale missile and drone attacks targeting not military front lines but the capital Kiev and other cities.

Four people are reported to have been killed and the country's energy infrastructure has been pummeled. The waves of Russian fire came after the Ukrainian

military's major incursion into the Russian region of Kursk and a downbeat assessment of a Russian troop

buildup near the key Ukrainian town of Prok.

The BBC's Abdulial Lab, the Rassarov, is in Kiev.

Abdulil, let's begin with that missile strike overnight.

How extensive was it?

Well, one of the missiles hit the city of Kewirich in Central Ukraine, it hit a hotel.

And the two, at least two people were killed there and another two are still missing.

And the search and rescue operation is still continuing at the site and emergency workers are trying to find those missing people and clearing the rubble.

And according to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used more than 80 drones and about dozen missiles including air-launched ballistic missiles.

And they said that they managed to shoot down pretty much all drones,

but they intercepted only five missiles which

suggests that the remaining five missiles managed to pass through the

defenses and hit their target.

And those targets being what?
