We go to the Middle East.

Jeff mentions the conduct of the Middle East I have learned over the years, and Jeff's reminded me.

Amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics, and that includes

the personnel you're putting in the field too much. Jeff, what is your measure of the simultaneous

conflict underway against Israel? I tell one brief anecdote in talking to the north of Israel last week and recording, it was evening time, there was a soccer game, a final underway in a big stadium in Tel Aviv between Bershiba and Jerusalem.

At that moment, the nationwide alert went on an inbound missile from Yemen aimed at Tel Aviv.

They couldn't evacuate the stadium. The whole country was lit up on their iPhones.

This is demanding of everybody's attention night after night after night.

And then we have the military that is not professional.

It's in the reserves, and it's called up now and again, and it reports.

100,000 reservists were called up within these last weeks for the new offensive on the Gaza to wipe out Hamas.

You have questions about how long this can be sustained.

Is that correct, Colonel? Yeah, absolutely, John. I mean, the IDF, you know, as in peacetime, as far as a, how many, how much is manned?

It's up force of about 160,000. It was 160,000 when this particular war began, and then, of course, called up Dramatic Reserve.

That's the basis and the organization, if you will, of the Israeli military.

If you now are going to move towards an occupation of the Gaza Strip, which seems what the Israeli's intent,

a full-fledged destruction of a mosque, and then a full occupation of the 150 square miles that comprised the Gaza Strip.

Our doctrine developed over many years in the U.S. military to control the population

was that it took 20 to 25 soldiers per thousand civilians to control the population.

And I emphasize the word control.
