And I'm Luke Vargas for the Wall Street Journal. And the two of us are here this weekend to answer some questions, your questions actually,

about the war between Israel and Hamas.

All this week we've been asking you, our What's News listeners, what you want to know

about the conflict. And we got a lot of questions about the situation on the ground at Gaza

and the wider ramifications of the war.

And so we've been reaching out to our colleagues at the Wall Street Journal to get some answers.

Many of you want to know what's happening on the ground in the Gaza Strip and to answer your

questions I'm joined now by Shandy Race our deputy bureau chief for the

Middle East. Let's start with a question that many have had since the start of

this war and that is how global intelligence

My question revolves around the intelligence failure following the attack on Israel by Hamas.

There was reporting on the high-tech fence on the border with Gaza,

as well as reports that the invasion was planned at least a year in advance.
