Today, Israel has said it's killed the commander of the Iranian

Revolutionary Guards Navy. According to Israel's defense minister, Ali Reza Tangziri was, quote,

blown up with other senior naval officers responsible for the effective closure of the Strait

of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest waterways for oil and gas exports.

It is the economic impact of that closure to most vessels that seems to be focusing

minds in Washington, either on finding ways to force it back open or to find an end to the war.

And on that, as we've been reporting all week, there are sharply competing narratives.

The Iranian negotiators are very different and strange. They're begging us to make a deal,

chance of a comeback. And yet they publicly state that they are only looking at our proposal,
