Israel and Lebanon have no formal relations.

So their face-to-face talks in Washington, D.C. today, their first direct diplomatic dialogue in more than 30 years are a milestone.

But Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant movement that's been deeply embedded in Lebanon since the 1990s, did not have a place of the table.

In fact, Hezbollah has said that even if an agreement is reached, it does not plan to abide.
