Alhamdulillah, we begin in the name of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, the one and the unique.

It is he that we worship and it is his aid that we seek.

He is the Lord of the oppressed and he hears the prayer of the weak as to what follows.

It is my honor and pleasure to address you here

for the very first time in your beautiful facility in Mesjid.

And I wonder why I have not visited your Mesjid before, but insha'Allah,

this is my first visit, insha'Allah, will not be my last visit

to a very beautiful Mesjid and community.

And the topic that I have today is somewhat of a deep one, a somber one.

It is one that every single one of us needs to think long and hard about.

It deals with our presence here in this country.

The past, the present and the future.

It deals with our identity, it deals with our vision.

It deals with our pros and cons, our strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

I wish we could do a full SWAT analysis of the American muslim scene,

but today I'm going to attempt to begin that analysis by pointing out what I feel to be.

Some of our main strengths as American muslims,

and also some of our weaknesses.

And the reason why I want to point out our strengths and weaknesses

is not so that we can gloat in our strengths

and to feel depressed or our weaknesses.
