How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord is laid for your faith in his excellent word.

Hundreds of years before Jesus died on the cross on that spring day in Jerusalem,

God wrote through his prophet Isaiah, on that spring day in Jerusalem.

a more vivid description of his son's crucifixion

than is found anywhere else in the Bible.

And we study it today in Isaiah 53.

In the Gospels, we're not told many details about Jesus'

death. The Holy Spirit spared us those morbid details. And yet interestingly, it's Isaiah

who paints the grotesque picture.

But even then we really can't know even into eternity all that Jesus endured in

obedience to the Father and what God demanded of Jesus out of his love for you and me.

In just a few moments we're going to get a new perspective on what John 316 described as

the reason, for God so loved the world that he gave his only

begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have

everlasting life. Let's pray and begin this amazing and humbling study.
