So we are in the most famous of Isaiah chapters, I think, at least for people like us, right? I mean, this is a big one. This is a

chapter that we hear every year. If you go to like a Good Friday service, you likely hear this text read.

This is like your Old Testament Good Friday go-to.

And for your very good reason.

This is one of those, if it ain't broke, don't fix it kind of thing.

It's because I don't think you're going to do any better on Good Friday than

than Isaiah 53. Uh, the chapter before this, we heard about, uh, God's coming salvation.

And in Isaiah 53, we get to hear exactly what that salvation looks like. and man, does it not look like what you would think it looks like?

I mean, and God says he's coming to save you. This is not what you expect.

Yeah, Isaiah's been getting us ready for Chapter 53 for quite a while.

He's talked about the rebellions of Israel. He's talked about exile and return.

He talks about this salvation, which he's going to accomplish by means of his servant, which isn't just for Israel, but for all the nations.

But he hasn't really told us, how's this going to happen? And he's pinpointed this figure, this servant, who's going to be also a ruler

and a redeemer, a savior, all this kind of stuff, all of which, of course, is true. But when
