story about my high school French teacher, Miss Crutchfield. She was quirky, like very quirky,

but she was so different that it got my attention.

For example, when she was teaching us the word flag in French,

it's le droppo.

But she didn't just write it on the chalkboard,

no, she illustrated words.

And I loved it.

She would hold up the French flag and she would say,

Le drop, oh, and she'd fall to the ground, like drop, and then she'd yell, oh.

And I was cracking up. Kids thought she was so weird. Well, then she would teach us stuff like about animals.

And she would say, you know, Le Sheehan, Le Shah for, you know, dog and cat.

Le Sheen, Le Shaw. Now, it dawned on me later. This is probably where I got the idea

to use props. I don't know. But I would be cracking up because she'd say,

Le Roof Roof, Le M meow. And I thought it was hilarious.

Other kids just thought she was a nutcase.
