Okay, listen to this. This is straight up shady, like cartoon villain shady. Imagine you want to delete your personal info from one of those sketchy data broker websites.

You know, the place is selling your info to advertisers, marketers, stockers, even coworkers.

Yeah, it's creepy.

So you go to Google, type in something like opt out of data broker name, hoping to find that page where you can say no thanks to your info being sold.

But nothing shows up. You think

maybe you just missed it? Nope. A recent report just blew the lid off this. More than 30 data

broker companies are flat out hiding their opt-out pages from Google and Bing. That's right. The pages

that are supposed to let you stop your data from being traded like baseball cards,

they're blocked on purpose. Now, these companies collect everything about you. Your name, address,

phone number, social security number, political views, job history, what you buy, your health info,

insurance claims, even who you live with.

And instead of making it easy to opt out, they bury that option so deep, you practically

need a treasure map to find it.

You have to dig through their websites, way through menus, legal jargon, and pop-ups

just to get there, if you can find that at all.

This isn't some accident or glitch.

It's a full-on strategy.

They want to look like they're following the rules, but hope you give up before you get to that opt-out page.
