President Trump, in a sudden about face that reflects tensions within his administration,

chose not to renew a license that allowed Chevron to export Venezuelan oil.

According to the Washington Post, the decision announced just a day after Trump-envoy

Richard Grinnell promised to renew the license, came in response to pressure from Secretary

of State Marco Rubio, and several

Republican lawmakers in Florida, who hoped to oust the Nicholas Maduro regime in Venezuela through

a maximum pressure campaign. Grunnell and Rubio have butted heads since the beginning of the

current administration over Grunel's desire to seek detente with Maduro, according to the Washington Post.

Secretary Rubio said the Trump administration will, quote, aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students,

adding that this would particularly focus on those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party

or who study in quote-unquote critical fields. Rubio's short, vague statement on the topic will likely spread anxiety among America's

275,000 Chinese students, the New York Times reports.

The move comes as Trump tries to ban Harvard from enrolling foreign students altogether,
