Summary

What would you expect to find at the REAL Mount Sinai? Could its true location be in Saudi Arabia rather than the traditional site in the Sinai Peninsula? In this podcast episode, Frank unpacks some of the details of his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, including what he and the group saw as they climbed the mountain at Jabal al-Lawz. He'll also discuss what fascinating markers distinguish this mountain as a great contender for Mount Sinai and why it's more important than ever for trained archaeologists to continue exploring the site. During the episode, Frank will answer questions like:* Why was the Sinai Peninsula originally selected as Mount Sinai?* How long did it take Frank and the group to get up the mountain?* Why have there been so few excavations at Jabal al-Lawz?* Who is Hathor and what's a possible explanation for all the cow drawings found on the mountain?* What evidence exists suggesting that Jabal al-Lawz is the true Mount Sinai?* What were Frank and the group AMAZED to see once they reached the top of Jabal al-Lawz?* What's so special about the Split Rock of Horeb? And how many people were involved in the Exodus? While it's still too early to make a concrete conclusion on Jabal al-Lawz, the circumstantial evidence discussed in the podcast episode may cause you to seriously consider it to be the REAL Mount Sinai!Resources mentioned during the episode:Living Passages Unveils the True Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia: http://youtu.be/JBaY--L5NPY (http://youtu.be/JBaY--L5NPY) Frank Visits the Merneptah Stele in Egypt: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gy-RanSnzik (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gy-RanSnzik) Preaching the Good News at the Giza Pyramids: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Cf4JjuRFA0Q (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Cf4JjuRFA0Q) Moses and the Split Rock of Horeb: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HLgzLDXFCB8 (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HLgzLDXFCB8) Was the Golden Calf HERE? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/h5yAwssDU5Y (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/h5yAwssDU5Y)

It's time to tell you a little bit about the trip we had to Egypt and Saudi Arabia just a few days before Christmas here.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Still suffering from a little bit of jet lag, but a lot of adrenaline was pumped on that trip.

0:19.0

In fact, today I want to talk about the Saudi Arabian side of the trip

0:23.5

because it might be the most interesting of all because very few people have gone to Saudi Arabia.

0:31.6

And in recent decades, people have seemed to uncover more and more evidence that the real Mount Sinai is in Saudi Arabia,

0:41.2

not on the Sinai Peninsula, as has been thought since about the 300s AD,

0:48.4

when the mother of Constantine Helena decided that was the spot that Mount Sinai was and where St.

Catherine's monastery is now. For those you're watching on our YouTube channel, you know the

Sinai Peninsula. Well, right down at the bottom of that there is where they think Mount Sinai is.

1:10.0

And it's been the traditional site for the past, say,

1:14.9

1700 years. But that site was picked as the site about, let's see, about 1700 years after the

1:27.2

exodus. And yet the ancient writers were, about 1700 years after the Exodus.

1:28.9

And yet the ancient writers prior to, well, the ancient writers going all the way back to Paul in Galatians talks about Sinai being in Arabia.

You also had the Septuagint from about 250 BC,

1:57.0

speaking of Mount Sinai being in the Arabian location, Philo of Alexandria, origin, a third century writer, Eusebius, a fourth century writer, Jerome also a fourth century writer. Even the

Quran seems to indicate that Mount Sinai is in Arabia. Now, there is some dispute. Could the

2:10.7

Sinai Peninsula have been considered part of Arabia? And yes, it could be considered part of Arabia,

2:22.2

but it seems that Mount Sinai is in the land of Midian. And Midian has always been in what is now known as Saudi Arabia. That is on the

eastern side of the Gulf of Aquabah. Again, looking at the Sinai Peninsula, you've got the

Red Sea where the Suez Canal is now, closest to Egypt. The other side of that peninsula is where the

Gulf of Akaba is, and that is also known as the Red Sea,
