The sad, sad state of the New York Mets who lost their 12th consecutive game last night in more pathetic fashion. The Yankees, on the other hand, very quietly took care of business against their arch rivals. The Boston Red Sox got a big day from Jean-Carlo. Louise Hill looked good. But there was a story that came out earlier this morning in the athletic. And I'm not going to offer an opinion. I'm going to give you guys the information, and I want Yankee fans to respond,

history.

Alternate road jerseys.

New York Yankees players recently pitched higher-ups on the team wearing alternate jerseys for the first time in franchise history.

But on the road, not at home.

Players suggested the team during occasional road games where its Navy batting practice jerseys,

which featured New York across the chest

in gray letters and numbers with white trim and the Star Insurance sleeve patch. The players

did not propose any changes to the home uniforms or to the regular road jerseys. The Yankees

only have two official jerseys, white with blue pinstripes at home and gray on the road.

The batting practice tops are the ones that are very similar to what they're pushing for.

And that's what the players want, which is basically just a black jersey on the road.

Now, the Yankees have had a tradition for a long time, and they've started to change

a few of those things. Obviously, the beard policy was a big story a year ago. Is this jersey thing,

something that infringes on your tradition? Or are we okay with the openness to adding a road

alternate jersey? Well, this is for Sean, because I think it's great because who cares? It's a jersey. A jersey is not affecting how you play. It might affect how you look. Now, from a player standpoint, if the jerseys suck, they just look bad. I'm going to show you the jersey so you can just have an idea. It's a black.
